It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website. Parrs Wood High School and Sixth Form is a culturally diverse and truly comprehensive learning environment. We are the founding member of the Greater Manchester Learning Trust (GMLT).
We provide all of our students with opportunities to strive towards academic excellence and to develop their skills in order to make a positive contribution to society, regardless of background.
On behalf of the school, I would like to express my thanks for the numerous messages of goodwill we have received after our Harmony Group performed at the One Love Concert. We have been overwhelmed with the support you have given us, from all across the world.
Our aim has always been to raise funds for the victims and their families of this horrific attack. The Group came together after some of our students had attended the original concert. They wanted to stop feeling helpless and their response was to sing. Their resilience is astounding.
I would also like to thank the organisers of the concert, Ariana Grande and her team, for including us in the event and allowing us to have the platform to raise money for the families. I think by having Manchester children involved within the concert it really gave a sense of authenticity. The feeling at the concert was incredible; the fact that despite everything Manchester had suffered, there was an emphasis on ‘love’ was a real testament to the courage and honesty of the people of the city.
I am very proud of our Harmony Group and the staff involved especially Ms Groarke, Mr Henry and Mr McDwyer and the entire school community. We really believe that by coming together, we will be even stronger going forward.
