BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Sixth Form study is not just about being in the classroom.

At Parrs Wood we provide a wide range of ‘extras’ such as:

Psychology trip to the Zoo.

Joint Psychology and Sociology trip to crime conference – where students meet a real life murderer and and Forensic Psychologists.

 

Spanish revision sessions at local Universities.

Viva Film Festival at the Cornerhouse.

 

In Health and Social Care volunteering trip tp Vitalise, respite care for people with learning difficulties, working as care assistants for day to day tasks as well accompanying clients on days out and visits.

 

Business visit to McVities

Art Participation in Didsbury Arts Festival. Artist in residence, workshops.

 

CSI Explained - professional Forensic Scientists setting up simulated crime scene.
Trip to Nottingham University for a two day Forensic Science Workshop.
“Forensic Fire Investigation” trip to investigate a fire crime scene.

Chemistry Spectroscopy Visit. A hands on session at Manchester University.

 

Field trip to Wales to study succession on the sand dunes

The Nuffield Science research project - 3 students attained the gold CREST award last year and we have 4 students due to complete projects this summer.

Manchester University study days in lots of subjects.

 

Medical Physics Trip to Christie’s Hospital

Physics trip to Jodrell Bank.
