At the heart Parrs Wood lies a tight-knit community characterised by friendly and supportive relationships.
Students are involved with life at Parrs Wood Sixth Form even before they officially start with ‘bridging/taster’ sessions and a well structured Induction Day which establishes student well being as the focus of successful study.
Tutor program encouargages students to share ideas within the group, activities such as interform quizes and sports events often linked to fund raising for Charity extends this belief and The Christmas Party and Summer Garden Party for Older Adults involves all tutor groups and asks students to work together for the benefit of others.
The activities within Spiritual Awareness and Careers Day encourage an appreciation of diversity and challenge students stereotypes and knowledge base, encouraging student’s to ask the questions, through panels and debate, developing more work based skills. Read as our Charity of the Year has encouraged students to take responsibility for those who are less fortunate than themselves and to appreciate their education, friends and environment and the regular Quiz Nights are a highlight for all the students as they join in with staff to compete for prizes.
Vitalise is a respite care centre for adults with disabilities and their carers. Students with career aspirations in any health, social or educational setting engage in a weeks’residential placement supporting the guests to have an enjoyable holiday, whilst gaining skills (communication, multi-tasking, recognition of own limitations, stress management).
The success of our leavers Buffet and Prom is testimant to the wonderful relationships built up between students and staff.
