STUDENT SUPPORT

To help students develop into successful and independent young adults we provide a comprehensive programme of support and guidance.

STUDY SUPPORT

At Parrs Wood our aim is to enable all students to achieve their academic potential. With that in mind, on entry to the Sixth Form you will be given minimum target grades for all your A-Level subjects. These are based upon your performance at GCSE and form the basis for the college’s monitoring programme.
Your progress will be assessed regularly against your target grades and you will be interviewed by your subject teachers and tutor. This enables all involved - you, your teachers, your tutor, the Sixth Form management team and your parents - to identify and address any problems, as well as to celebrate your successes.
You will be encouraged to reflect on your own progress and to set yourself goals for improvement.

PASTORAL SUPPORT

You will be assigned to a tutor group and have regular individual reviews with your tutor to discuss progress, address any problems and set yourself targets.
You will also have a Director of Learning and Director of Sixth Form to provide additional help and support.
You will be required to attend regular Forum sessions during which you will receive guidance on a range of topics from Study Skills to Road Safety to budgeting while at university. These sessions often feature outside speakers and provide students with a valuable breadth of information.
