We are committed to promoting Reading for Pleasure and believe that every child can learn to enjoy reading regardless of their starting point.
As part of the English curriculum, your child will have a fortnightly Library lesson. We use Accelerated Reader software in Year 7 and Year 8 to help students make informed choices about the books they choose and read in school and at home. This programme also allows us to recognise and reward students who make progress in their reading. Furthermore, it allows students to earn rewards for their Tutor group within our Tutor League.
To further support the promotion of reading, the school participates in Book Buzz programme which means that every Y7 and Y8 student can choose a free book at the start of the autumn term. In addition to this, during the course of the year your child will also take part in various events including Drop Everything and Read; Book Fairs and World Book Day.
