Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is an internationally recognised award which has been running for over 60 years. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is highly valued by employers and there is a section of the UCAS (https://www.ucas.com/)
form worth valuable points to record successful completion of the Award.
In Year 9 students have the option to complete and achieve their Bronze award. The award consists of four sections which need to be completed, those sections are:
Volunteering - giving up time to support others.
Physical - a physical sport or activity.
Skill - improving or learning a new skill.
Expedition - learning new skills and applying them in overnight camping expeditions.
Because we also have Parrs Wood Sixth Form College, students have the option to obtain their Silver award in Year 12. The course will help you with:

- Better Communication
- Sense of Community
- Develop Physical Ability
