Expressive & Performing Arts
Our EPA curriculum at KS3 intends to develop knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the performing arts through creative practical exploration, underpinned by key subject specific terminology learnt and realised within performed assessment. We will equip the students with the ability to interpret the language of musical scores and dramatic text, realising these into performed context with an awareness of artistic intent, technique, technical application audience appreciation. Regular use of teamwork in lessons demands a discursive approach to a diverse range of social, political, historical and cultural texts.
We aim to maximise the student’s cultural capital through appreciation of the performing arts from a global perspective, augmenting this with an extensive enrichment programme that celebrates our diverse community.
By the end of KS3 students should be able to perform and evaluate with confidence and oral competency with the experience of KS4 text and score to facilitate their transition to GCSE.
