Year 9 art students took part in the Factory International Kusama X project. This involved first visiting the Kusama exhibition at the Aviva building in Manchester followed by three in-school workshops with artists and an MMU fashion student creating Kusama clothes from recycled materials. The completed clothes were then paraded at Festival Square in front of the general public at the Aviva building at Factory International on Saturday 15th June. The Fashion parade was covered by Northwest tonight and was a real celebration of how art can inspire and help build confidence in our students. They have really enjoyed creating work to exhibit alongside a worldwide artist, collaborating with two other schools, exploring materials in a fun way and just enjoying the pleasure of being creative. This really has been a very special project for the participating students and we look forward to more of the same next year with next year’s collaboration with Factory International.
